Jose I. Garcia passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at his home in Chimayo,

Jose was preceded in death by his son Josecito Garcia; his parents Rosa and Ismael Garcia; siblings Gilbert, Lionel, Elaisa, Josephine Roybal; sisters-in-law Grace Garcia and Martha Garcia; brothers-in-law Serafin Roybal and Robert Pearson.

Jose is survived by his children, Flor Cordova of Chimayo and Matthew Garcia of Espanola, mother of his children/close friend Connie Garcia of Espanola; grandchildren Cassidy Cordova and Zeak Quintana of Penasco, Caitlin and Cody Lopez of Los Alamos, Darren Trujillo of Chimayo; great-grandchildren Naomi Quintana and Noah Lopez; siblings Ismael (Ruth) Garcia of Chimayo, Rosita (Clint) Shoemaker of Castle Rock, CO Erma Pearson of El Rancho, Rita (Bill) McAlister of Chimayo, and Dolores (Ken) Knight of White Rock; Special nieces/nephews Chris and Ymelda Samora, Steven and Roberta Garcia and Adrianna Naranjo along with many other nieces, nephews and close friends whom he loved.

A Rosary will take place on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 6:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola. NM.  

Burial will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery at 10:00 am.

Honorary Pallbearers are Steven Garcia, Chris Samora, Santiago Martinez, William Trujillo, James C. Naranjo, Mel Garcia, and Felipe Garcia.
