Jose Eppie Vigil

Eppie Jose Vigil, 73, of Alcalde, New Mexico, was called to be with the Lord May 9, 2025, in Santa Fe, NM. He was surrounded by his loving family and went home peacefully.

Eppie was born to Eppifanio and Dolores Vigil. He was a father, grandpa and uncle but definitely “one of a kind”.

Eppie had a tremendous love for family and friends, and everyone knew him for his crazy sense of humor. He always had a story to tell, a silly face gesture or a joke to pass along, when he was around there was never a dull moment. He had a great joy for music, playing in different bands throughout the years and singing karaoke. Music was definitely “his therapy”.

Eppie was quite the athlete throughout his school days and continued with senior Olympics. Eppie definetely had a pep in his step and an unexplainable energy.

Eppie will tremendously be missed... by his partner Mercy Roybal; sons Eric Vigil and daughter-in-law Evangeline Vigil and Leon Vigil; daughter Lisa Vigil; sisters Eloida Martinez and Bertha Romero; brother-in-law Leroy Romero; grandson’s Jamal Lujan and Zachary Vigil; granddaughter Kianna Vigil; nieces, nephews and many friends that Eppie made along the way.

There is joy knowing that he had a love for the Lord and that he is finally in Eternal Peace.

Eppie will be cremated and his urn be placed to rest with his parents at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Espanola, NM.

Eppie’s life will be honored at the Lighthouse of Chimayo, NM, with date pending.
