Jose A. Duran Sr.

Jose A. Duran Sr.,y (Binne’), 72, of Chili, NM, went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2024. 

Jose was preceded in death by his parents Casildo and Frances Duran; sons Armando Casey and Abram Duran; son-in-law Dennis Alarid (Keith).

Jose is survived by his son Jose Duran Jr. (Michael Throne), daughter Paula Duran, stepdaughter Vanessa Cordova (Nelson), grandchildren Crystal Lopez (James), Dennis Alarid (Stevie-Ann), Jose M. Duran, Regina Rodella, Geno Rodella Jr, Aubrey Cordova, Rowen Cordova, and Ricco Cordova, great-grandchildren Aly Lopez, Jacob Lopez, Mario Lopez and Keith C. Alarid, sisters Sabrina Mondragon (Steve), and nephews and nieces. 

Jose was an amazing father, son, grandfather, godfather, brother, uncle and friend. He took great pride in his family, Española Valley and New Mexico. He was a jokester who enjoyed his ranch, farming, owning horses and cattle, hunting, fishing, hot rods, and riding his Harley and driving his Corvette. 

He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who know him. 

A public viewing will take place at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory in Espanola, NM, on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 5:00 pm, and a Rosary at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 25, 2024, at San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez, NM, at 12:30 pm and burial to follow at San Jose Catholic Cemetery. 

A reception will follow immediately after burial at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Espanola, NM.
