Johnny Medina

Johnny A. Medina, 86, of La Villita, New Mexico passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021 with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Teofilo and Elvira Medina; twelve brothers and sisters; daughter Donna Marie Medina; and son Kenny M. Medina

He loved his wife of 61 years. He was the greatest father, grandfather, and great-grandfather there ever was. Johnny loved sports. The Dodgers, Lakers, and Packers were his favorite professional teams. He also loved playing his guitar and singing for the church choir. He was a devoted Hermano of the Morada of Chamita since 1989. He prayed his 'alabados' so beautifully. Lent was a very special time for him. He enjoyed celebrating the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday. Johnny was a son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a great friend to many people.  Johnny is survived by his wife Cora Medina; sons Isaac Medina (Susan); Sandy Medina; and daughter Dani Beckman; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, with a burial to follow at the La Villita Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Isaac J. Medina, Alex Medina, Dominic Medina, Teofilo Guerin, Melvin Cordova, Raymond Sanchez, and  Mitch Herrera, honorary pallbearers named are Don Medina, Johnny Mondragon, Xzayvier Medina, Zion Medina, and Marcos Guerin.
