Johnny Herrera

JOHNNY C. HERRERA, JR. “CAKE”, 70, a resident of El Duende, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Herrera, Sr.; sister, JoAnn M. Herrera; nephews, AJ and Carlos Herrera; grandparents, Antonio and Eduvigen Quintana and Rafael and Ramoncita Herrera; and brother-in-law, Eddie Atencio. He held a special place in his heart for his family and his 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Cake had a love for fast cars growing up and later in life a special love for his much cherished 1978 Chevy four-wheel drive brown truck. He worked for OK Tires on Riverside Drive for 18 years alongside his oldest brother. He was known as the front end alignment man there. He opened his own successful business in El Duende on November 22, 1988, known as Johnny’s Front End Alignment. At his shop he continued to meet new clients which most if not all became loyal customers and friends. He was known for his honest work which brought in new customers as well. Cake was always saying he was going to work until the day he died and that he did. Mr. Herrera is survived by his wife, Elvira Herrera; children, Tammy Romero (John), Johnny Herrera III (Yolanda) and Debbie Quintana; mother, Amada Herrera; siblings, Leroy Herrera (Erlinda), Helen Atencio, Lily Garcia (Andres), Eva Medina (Leroy), Judy Maestas, Michael Herrera, Tony Herrera and Cathy Herrera; grandchildren, Tim, Kayla and Tyleen Herrera, Jonathan Romero, Johnny IIII, Jeremy Herrera and Brandon Romero, Keanna Quintana, Ezekiel Romero, Julian, Justin and Joany Herrera; great-grandchildren, Hayley Voight, Caleb Voight, Marileena DeAguero, Nevaeh and Aryel Herrera, Kamille Quintana, Abigail Herrera, Hazel Romero and Elyanna Herrera and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a memorial to begin at 6:00 p.m. The family of Johnny C. Herrera, Jr. “Cake” has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
