John Andrew (Andy) Valdez, 66, lifelong resident of Velarde, NM.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Pampo, Great Grandfather, God Father, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Friend and Music/Mariachi Teacher, on August 18, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family.

Andy was born on May 17, 1956, to Bernardo Sr. and Anita Valdez, the 6th of 9 children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo Sr. and Anita Valdez, sister Darlene Guillen (d. Martin), mother-in-law, Pearl Vigil and other family members.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Veronica Valdez, daughter, Andrea Valdez, son Dale Valdez (Gloria), granddaughters, Myriah Padilla, Lyla Martinez, Amor Valdez, grandson, Albert Valdez, great granddaughter, Avyanah Yates, Father-in-law, Gilbert Vigil. Brothers and sisters, Velma Martinez (Leroy), Eugene Valdez (Georgia), Felix Valdez (d. Mary Agnes), Rafelita Garcia (d. Alfred), Elmo Valdez (Mabel), Bernardo Valdez Jr (Aggie), Gloria Brito (d. Wayne), Brother-in-law, Anthony Vigil (Gloria), Lawrence Vigil (Marlene) and Lee Vigil.

A rosary will be recited on Monday, August 29, 2022, at 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 all in the parish hall at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde.

Burial will immediately follow at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Felix Valdez, Elmo Valdez, Bernardo Valdez Jr, Adrian Brito, J.C Valdez, Lawrence Vigil, James Lopez, Albert Valdez and Horace Esquibel.

Special thanks to family and friends for their love and support, food, money, visits and phone calls, and to El Corazon and De Vargas Funeral Home and Crematory during this difficult time.

Thank you to the 3rd floor staff at Christus St. Vincent's, Dr. Bradley Rowberry and staff, and El Corazon Hospice.
