Joe Dennis Garcia was born on September 10, 1947, and departed this world on his journey to our Lord on July 6, 2024.
Joe was a friendly, caring and outgoing person, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a man of a few words but when he got to talking, he always had a joke to tell that brought laughter and joy to the heart. He had a contagious smile. He was loved by those who knew him. Joe was a loyal fan of the New England Patriots, proudly wearing his jerseys and caps. Joe was passionate about getting his 69’ Camaro restored, which he bought brand new. He worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory for 26 years and was proud of his janitorial crew, which he supervised until the time he retired.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Maria Louisa Garcia; his sisters, Mary Allison, Mary Rider and her husband Bill, and Dollie Garcia; his brothers, Carlos Garcia and his wife Oralia, and Phillip Garcia and his wife Helen; in-laws Adan and Susie Vigil, brother-in-law John Fresquez; nephews Gabriel Fresquez, Joe Martinez and Phillip Garcia Jr.; niece, Daphne Martinez; great nephews and niece, Daniel Godina and Bobby Garcia Jr. and Amanda Martinez; his best friends, Johnny and Elvira Herrera, and many other extended family and friends.
Joe is survived by his soul-mate and the love of his life, Eleanor Vigil Garcia, married for 55 years; his sons, Joseph Garcia and Jamie Garcia (Amanda); brother, Richard Garcia (Angie); brothers-in-law, Alfonso Lujan and Kenneth Allison; sisters-in-law, Patricia Castillo (John) and Cindy Fresquez Maestas (David); niece and nephew whom he raised like his own, goddaughter, Melissa Padilla (Carlos) and Bobby Garcia Sr. (Monica); close nieces, Barbara Martinez (Wilbert) and Helen Martinez; his fur babies, Chata and Queenie; and many other extended family and friends
Public Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Church in San Juan, NM, with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 am and a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at the La Villita Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers are: Gabriel Fresquez, Johnny Fresquez, Bobby Garcia Sr., Jimmy Garcia, Carlos Padilla, Alfonso Rascon and Wilbert Valdez.
Honorary pallbearers are: John Castillo, Noberto Godina, Alfonso Lujan, David R. Maestas, Sam Herrera, John Herrera and Angela Vigil.
