Joann DeHerrera-DeAgueroage 70, a residence of Chimayo, NM, passed away on April 25, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving husband and family after a battle with cancer. Joann’s three nieces Carla Baca, Perla and Debra Martinez devoted their days and nights assisting her husband Arsenio with her care . 

Joann was preceded in death by her beloved son Filbert Mathew DeAguero, parents Alberto and Rosita DeHerrera, In-Laws Grabiel and Benina DeAguero, brother Romulo DeHerrera, sisters-in-law Marie DeHerrera, Bernie GarciaBrothers-in-law Raymond Wheeler and Chris Martinez Sr. Nephew’s Thomas and Anthony Rodriguez, Defino and Martin Garcia, Manuel Rocky Wheeler, Patrick Chavez Sr. Anthony Martinez, Juan David Sanchez, Joey DeHerrera. Niece’s Marylou, Stephanie and Bonnie Padilla, Anjelika Baca, and Brenda Abeyta (Lenten package giver). 

Joann was born in Leadville, Colorado, on June 14, 1953, and raised in Chamita, NM, until her marriage July 1979. She was a caring, loving, friendly giving person. A jokester by nature always making her family and friends laugh without even trying. Joann retired from the State of NM Dept of Health as a Procurement SPC. June 1998. After retirement Joann devoted her time caring for her mother Rosita and later her mother-in-law Benina till their passing. Joann was a devoted Catholic never missing Sunday Mass or Holy days of obligation till her illnessshe loved knitting blankets for family, friends, and special occasions, loved shopping especially for purses and enjoyed the casino. Everyone knew her by the Grey Volvyou couldn’t miss it on the road with that license plate Touring NM.  

Joann is survived by her loving husband of 45 yrs Arsenio DeAguero Sr., brother’s David DeHerrera, Pete (Roberta) DeHerrera. sister’s Irene (Eddie) Vigil, Lydia Wheeler, Linda(Paul) Chavez, Cordie (Adonaldo) Herrera and June Galvan. Sister in law Rose DeHerrera, Stepchildren Arsenio Jr., Ricky (Balarie), James, David (Jessica) DeAguero. Sandra (Ken) Huff , Angela Moret (Richard). Sister-law Erlinda Martinez Brother in-law Abel Garcia. Step grandchildren, many nephews, and nieces.

Thank you to the Staff at Roadrunner Hospice for their Care and Support and Father Sebastian, Father John from Holy Family Parish for their prayers and visits. 

A Rosary will take place on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, NM, with a Mass to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Nuestra Senora de Dolores.
