Jesse Martinez

Jesse Robert Martinez, 57, from Chimayo, NM, passed away on January 29, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Jesse was born on July 17, 1966, in Espanola, NM. 

Jesse is preceded in death by his father Remijio Martinez and his mother Roselia Vigil. 

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Martinez; son Justin Martinez; mother-in-law Lupe Martinez; stepfather Leroy Salazar; stepmother Beverly Martinez; siblings Benny, Herman, Brenda, Nadine, Remijio Jr, and Sonya; Godson DJ; special niece Crystal; many other nieces and nephews and other relatives. 

Jesse had numerous jobs, but his main interest was carpentry. In his younger years through the Knights of Columbus Jesse participated in the rosary program and prayed for our families and perishes. Jesse made friends very easily and was very well-liked, he was a comedian at heart and loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He loved eating and cooking Spanish traditional food ever since he was young. He especially enjoyed it when others acknowledged his cooking. One of his favorite activities during his younger years was owning and riding a Harley-Davidson. He loved participating in the Red River Biker Run. We cannot forget his love for Bald Eagles, he was a big Raiders fan, and of course he loved his cat "blackie". He made these interests a large part of his personality. We will cherish the memories made with him forever in our hearts.

Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.
