Jerry John Gallegos, age 70, passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 23, 2021. Jerry was born December 4, 1950 in La Madera, New Mexico. He graduated from Ojo Caliente High School and went on to graduate from Trinidad State College with a degree in electronics. After graduation, moved to Colorado Springs after accepting a position as a technician at Ampex where he worked for more than 20 years. Then became a machinist for Kaman and Magnum Manufacturing where he later retired from.

Jerry is survived by his wife Prescilla Gallegos of 51 years and his son Chris Gallegos (Susan Alexander); his sisters Jane Garcia (David), Charlene Trujillo (Mariano), brothers Joseph Gallegos (Carolyn), Charles Gallegos (Anita), brothers in law Porfirio Alire (Mae), Arturo Alire (Veronica), David Alire, sisters in law Pauline Varoz, Joanne Wiggins, Lucy Varela (Roy), Judy Rivera (Paul) and many nieces and nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Jose D. Gallegos and Celina Gallegos, sister Annette Trujillo, nephew Jason Trujillo, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Jerry loved being around family and spending time on the family’s ranch in northern New Mexico. He enjoyed working with his hands and could always be found working in the yard, the field or building something ornate out of wood. He also loved working on his trucks and going to car shows.

A rosary will be recited on October 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente with a mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. A burial will follow the celebratory mass at La Madera Catholic Cemetery. The family of Jerry Gallegos have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477
