JEANETTE McEWEN, 86, a resident of Los Alamos passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, James McEwen. Jeannette was born on September 28, 1924 in the family home at Los Angeles, CA. She grew up there, got married, and lived in La Crescenta, CA until July 2010, when she moved to Aspen Ridge Assisted Living in Los Alamos to be closer to her family. There she enjoyed her life in Aspen Ridge, and the friends she made. She liked to travel and had been to Egypt and China. She especially loved going to the Dollar Stores. She was surrounded by her family and friends at her time of death. Ms. McEwen is survived by her, brother, Robert H. Springer of Los Alamos; nephew, Robert W. Springer and wife Alecia of Los Alamos; two great-nephews, Robert D. Springer and wife Anastasia and their daughter Audrey and Michael W. Springer and wife Sarah of Zurich, Switzerland and other relatives and friends. Cremation is being planned. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity on the Hill Church in Los Alamos. The family of Jeanette McEwen has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
