James W. Martsh (Jimmy) 72, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Friend passed away on March 12th, 2021.

James was preceded in death by his parents John Martsh and Maria Elvira Martinez.

He is survived by his loving Wife and best friend, Rosella of 48 years, Son Matthew Martsh and wife Barbara, Daughter Leslie Martsh, Grandchildren James Matthew and Allyson Martsh. Brother John Martsh (Carmen), Sisters Shirley DeVargas, and Barbara Fresquez (Paul). Sister In-Law Anita Leyba (Johnny), Brothers In-Law John Rivera (Ellen), Joe Arthur (Patsy), and many Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

James was a Lifelong resident of Espanola. He was a proud Army Veteran and member of the 244 Delta Hawk Aviation Company during his tour in Vietnam. After returning home, James honorably served in the Army National Guard and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer II. James worked and retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory. He was also active in the VVA Northern New Mexico Chapter 996.

James will be remembered by his family and friends for his sense of humor and generosity. James enjoyed woodworking and was an avid outdoorsman. He was always the life of the party. His grandchildren, nieces, and nephews absolutely adored him.

Today we celebrate his life and cherish the love and memories he left us with.

Public Visitation will be at De Vargas Funeral Home on Monday, March 22nd at 6:00 p.m.

The Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada on Tuesday, March 23, 10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers will be: Jim Turner, Steven Jaramillo, Joe Duran, Johnny Leyba, Jamie Archuleta, Paul Trujillo, Dennis Duran, and Brian Calzabillas.
