Jake Gallegos, 59, a resident of Hernandez, went home peacefully to be with his personal Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 1, 2015 following a lengthy Illness. He was preceded in death by his wife Josephine; father, Robert; sister, Maria; God-daughter, Melony; niece, BB Watson; paternal grandparents, Santiago and Anastacia Gallegos, maternal grandparents, Tobias and Martina Maestas. Jake was a very spiritual, kind, humble, and generous man. He was a loving son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend always willing to help anyone. He was an avid hunter and fisher man. Jake like going for wood, his passion was looking for the perfect tree or stump for his wood work. He was very creative. Jake worked as a labor in construction part of his life, he also worked for the Espanola Valley School Systems. Jake was a servant to the Lord and carried his cross well, he never complained about his illness. He just accepted it. Jake adored his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his mother, Bernie Gallegos; brother, Robert and wife Linda; step-daughter, Darla; grandchildren, Jalene, Isaiah, and Jada; nieces, Arianna, Grace and Elizabeth; special uncles, Archie Maestas, Alfonso, Phil, Mike Gallegos and numerous cousins, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Burial to follow at the San Jose Cemetery with the following serving the family as pallbearers, Phillip Gallegos, Donald Gallegos, Jake Maestas, Archie Maestas, Isaiah Baca, and Noel Romero. Honorary Pallbearers Andy Jr, Caleb, Tommy, Marcus, Jada, Josiah, Isaiah, Damian and Andy Sr. The family of Jake Gallegos has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
