Jacob Norman Medina, Age 35, resident of Velarde, NM, passed away on May 26, 2023. He was born April 28, 1988, to Norman and Lorraine Medina. He will forever be remembered for his patience, kind smile and infectious laugh. He is survived by his daughter Brooklynn who was his pride and joy. Jacob will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Following college, Jacob served in the United States Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. Jacob was extremely talented at fishing and enjoyed teaching others his tips and knowledge on what bait and lures to use at different waters. He enjoyed playing games with his daughter, niece and nephew and teaching them what he knew about different sports. He spent his free time helping his dad in the apple orchard, attending car shows and spent every morning drinking a cup of coffee with mom and dad.
Jacob was preceded in death by Ismael Medina (Paternal Grandfather) and Lee Rodriguez (Maternal Grandfather). Surviving family members include; daughter Brooklynn Medina of Espanola, NM, parents Norman and Lorraine Medina of Albuquerque, NM, sister Melanie Chavez (Matthew) of Albuquerque, NM, brother Nicholas Medina (Nick) of San Francisco, CA, nephew and niece Elijah Chavez and Leah Chavez of Albuquerque, NM grandmother Grace Medina of Velarde, NM, grandmother Isabel Rodriguez of Espanola, NM, aunt Erna Medina of Velarde, NM, aunt Trudy McCall (Vernon) of Espanola, NM, aunt Theresa Briones (Paul) of Farmington, NM, uncle Louie Medina of Clearfield, UT, and numerous cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Rosary/Funeral Mass to take place on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe, NM. Burial to follow at 2:30 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Meal to follow burial at Rudy’s BBQ in Santa Fe, NM.
Pallbearers: Nicholas Medina, Matthew Chavez, Pat Wolfe, and Pamuel Alvarado
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to make a donation to the American Legion.
