Isaiah Ernesto Maestas, 17, a resident from La Puebla and Pojoaque went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident alongside his beautiful loving girlfriend, Lia Rodriquez.

Isaiah was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Benson, paternal great-grandfather Ernesto Maestas; great uncle, Ernest Maestas Jr. uncle, Matthew Corrales; maternal great-grandparents, Herman and Loyola Griego; close friend Alejandra Gonzalez.

Isaiah had a passion for music. He loved listening to all different kinds of music and started making music with some friends. He loved going fishing with his Dad and brothers as well as his Grandpa Lester and Grandpa Gary and Uncle Ray and his cousins. He has many memories being in Coyote and going camping, riding horses and hunting. He also loved cars and grew up working on cars with his Dad. Isaiah attended Pojoaque Valley Schools since Kindergarten where he made many friends and played different sports. Growing up he was in Soccer, Baseball and played Football for the Espanola Valley Chiefs. He loved watching movies and hanging out with friends and family. Isaiah had such a friendly personality and always wanted to be with friends and family. Isaiah was such a sweet, loving, smart and loyal young man. He was often complimented on how respectful he was. His smile lit up the room. He had the most beautiful smile.  If anyone needed his help, Isaiah was there in a heartbeat! He was very loving and was good with kids. He had a special bond with his little brothers Mateo and Caden and his cousin Joseph. He loved to cook and eat. He and his girlfriend Lia loved cooking together.

Isaiah was loved, and will be missed and remembered every day. Isaiah, your wings were ready but our hearts were not.

Isaiah is survived by his father side, Father, Dominic Maestas and wife who raised Isaiah as her own for the last 12 years Melissa (Redman) Maestas.  (La Puebla, NM); his brothers, Jeremiah Maestas, Caden Maestas, Mateo Maestas and Nathaniel Trujillo-Maestas, and his sister, Leigha Maestas all of La Puebla; grandparents, Debbie and Gary Martinez of Coyote, other set of grandparents, David and Sharon Redman, great-grandmother, Belen Maestas of Espanola; aunts, Adrianna Martinez and companion Manuel Otero, Angela Maestas of Chimayo, Martha and husband Ray Jacquez of Youngsville; cousins, Joseph Morfin, Raymond and Stasia Jacquez and their children, Woody, Bryce, Kiaya, Morgan Jacquez, Diego Jacquez and companion Catherine and their son Leland, Melanie Vigil and companion Kourtnie, Lucas Vigil and companion Brianna.

Isaiah is also survived by his mother side, mother, Crystal Contreras and Husband Martin from Albuquerque; step-sisters, Destiny Silva, Esperanza Contreras, Jessica Contreras, step-brothers, Martin and Josiah Contreras all of Albuquerque; grandparents, Lester Griego of Pojoaque, Peggy Gonzales and husband Richard of Lyden, great-grandparents, Ben and Mary Roybal of El Rancho; uncles, Joshua Griego and wife Destinee of Chimayo, Chester Griego and Jason Suazo of Arroyo Seco, aunts, Ramona Griego and husband Randy Longpre of Leadville, CO, LaHoma Suazo of Arroyo Seco, Leslie Duran and husband Bobby of Arroyo Seco, and Loyola Griego of Arroyo Seco; cousins, Nicholas, Destiney, Hailey, Honoree and Sevyn Griego; and many more aunts, uncles, and cousins who all loved him very much. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at Victory Faith Church in Espanola, with a Devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. A rosary will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Crus de la Canada in Santa Cruz with a Mass to be held at 11:30 a.m. and a burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Espanola. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Morgan Jacquez, Diego Jacquez, Lucas Vigil, Abram Martinez, Joshua Griego, and Nicholas Griego, honorary pallbearers names are Raymond Jacquez, and his brothers, sister and step brothers.
