Isabel Serrano, 80, passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2024. Born on December 31, 1943, in Espanola, NM, she was preceded in death by her parents, Cipriano and Delfina Serrano; brothers Noberto and Carlos Serrano; sisters Sadie Schaffer and Martha Maida Serrano; nephews Wilbert and Joseph Salazar; nieces Kathy Trujillo and Deann Marie Maestas; great-nephew James Villanueva; and her beloved dog Panchita, who she cherished for 20 years.

Isabel survived by her brother Abelino (Connie) Serrano of Commerce City; sisters Lily Villanueva of Albuquerque, Olivia Serrano, Carman (Wilbert) Salazar, Dolores (Fidel) Maestas all of Espanola; Susie (Andres) Garcia of Nambe; Corina Espinoza (Phil) of Ranchitos; and goddaughter Lorie Kelleher of Santa Fe. She also leaves behind her precious little dog Shorty. Isabel loved listening to KDCE for the music, praying the daily rosary, and listening to the Sundevils games. She was a passionate sports fan, especially devoted to the Espanola Sundevils, the Dallas Cowboys, the LA Dodgers, and the UNM Lobos.

A rosary will be recited on December 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM, followed by Mass and burial at Santa Cruz Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Marybeth Villanueva, Clifford Serrano, Debra Gonzales, Tammy Soveranez, Cippie Salazar, Cindy Garcia, and Miguel and Ray Maestas. Honorary Pallbearers include the rest of her many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Ambercare Hospice for their continued support to Isabel and the family.
