ISABEL (LUCERO) CUMMINGS

Isabel (Lucero) Cummings 86,

A loving and dedicated mother. Born in La Joya NM.
She grew up in Santa Fe NM.
Resided in Los Alamos for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Young, & her children’s father Charles Cummings,
Her parents Procopio & Eusebia Lucero,
her brother Luis Lucero, and her niece Angela Lucero.

She is survived by her sister Felonis Cortez,
also her son Chuck and his wife Chelsea Nicola Cummings.
Son-in law Dan Young. She is also survived by many grandchildren Charlie and Matthew Young,
Also Aashkii, River, Zia, and Akoya Isabella.
She also leaves behind a niece
and nephews
Celia Cortez, Mark Lucero and Bob Cortez.
Isabel earned her Bachelors degree in 1960 from the Dominican College in Racine WI.,
and her Masters Degree in 1967 at the College of St.Joseph’s on the Rio Grande, UNM Albuquerque NM.
Isabel had a full career with Los Alamos Schools. She taught at Barranca School and Pinion School their first years of opening in the early 1960’s. She then became a diagnostician for Los Alamos Public Schools after earning her Masters degree. She worked with LAPS until she retired.
Isabel has many friends in many states. She enjoyed painting and drawing. Her neighbors would hear her singing. She traveled the world with her sister Felo and close friends Mona and Ingrid, who  also were her walking partners,
They walked many miles a day for many years.
She was a faithful lifelong Catholic and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (IHM)
She was part of a Prayer Chain and an Adoration group for many years.

A Rosary will be recited on June 15, 2022, at 10:00 am at
Immaculate Heart of Mary, 3700 Canyon Rd., Los Alamos, NM.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00am following the Rosary, with an interment following at Guaje Pines Cemetary (Los Alamos)
followed by a luncheon at IHM parish hall.
