Hilio - Age 69 - Rio Lucio - Gurule

HILIO B. GURULE, 69, a resident of Rio Lucio (Peñasco) passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013 following a lengthy illness with his family and friends by his side. He was born June 14, 1943. He dedicated his life and had a strong devotion to serving his God Jehovah. He always had a joking personality and was kind. Hilio was a generous man with a big heart and always shared all he had with his family and friends. Hilio is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Julianita Gurule; his dearest and confidant son, Felix Gurule; special brother-in-law whom he loved as a son, George Fernandez (Rosemary); special nieces and nephews whom he loved like his grandchildren, Adam and Andrew Archuleta, Jazylnn and Genesis Fernandez and Nevaeh Crist; brothers, Larry Gurule (Laura), Guillermo Martinez (Marcella) and Gilbert Martinez, Sr. (Boudilia); brothers-in-law, Franklin Fernandez, Sr. (Mary), Barolin Fernandez (Ramona), Adelio Fernandez (Flora), Norberto Fernandez (Bernie), Juan Fernandez (Aurelia) and Felix Fernandez; sisters-in-law, Carolina Sanchez, Endy Pacheco (Henry) and Julia Fernandez and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many other relatives and friends all whom he loved very much. He will be dearly missed. Hilio was preceded in death by his parents, Querino and Cleofes; grandfather, Felix Martinez; brothers, Adolfo, Luis and Orlando Gurule, Sr.; sister, Emma Gurule; parents-in-law, Felix Fernandez, Sr. and Aurora Fernandez; brothers-in-law, Leo Fernandez, Sr., Pablo Fernandez and Dennis Sanchez; special aunt whom he loved like a mother, Matilde Martinez. Special thanks to the Holy Cross Hospital, Mountain Home Health Care Staff and Professional Case Management; Maxine Casados who was his caregiver for 3 years; friends from the Peñasco Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and to the many other family and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Burial to be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Family plot in Peñasco. The family of Hilio B. Gurule has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
