Herman Jr. - age 83 - Chimayo Ortiz

Herman Ortiz Jr., 83, a resident of Chimayo passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013. Herman was preceded in death by his parents; Ursulita and Herman Ortiz Sr.; grandfather that raised him Dionicio Ortiz; grandson Juanito Martinez. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Loida Ortiz of Chimayo, children, Celina Mae Vigil, Lloyd A. Ortiz, Doris Ursulita Vigil, Timmy R. Ortiz and companion Silvia Baca, Juan Ortiz, and Sandra Ortiz all of Chimayo, granddaughter raised like a daughter, Jenna Ortiz and companion Mario Trujillo of Chimayo, two sisters, Feliz Gamino, and Josie Keeney both of California, grandchildren, Michael Vigil, Brianah Gallegos, Andres, and Matthew Vigil, Chris, and Alisha Baca, Ashley Martinez, Isaiah Ortiz, and Elijah Valdez, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with a burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family of Herman Ortiz Jr. has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
