Henry Sandoval, 71, a resident of Rio Chiquito, NM entered eternal life on September 6, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Israel Sandoval and Cordelia Sandoval; brothers Damian Sandoval (Frances), Ruben Sandoval (Mary), Onivas Sandoval (Ruby), Sifredo Sandoval, Marylou Sandoval, Deluvina Sandoval, Juanito Sandoval; brother-in-law Melaquias Martinez; sister-in-law Bertha Sandoval; father-in-law Jose Moises Vigil; mother-in-law Simonita Vigil; brothers and sisters-in-law Jerry Vigil, Jake Vigil, Angelina Vigil, Maximiana Vigil, Charles Atencio, and Norma Sanchez.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joyce Vigil-Sandoval; Daughters Vanessa Hansel (Damon), Teresita De La Torre (Eric), and son Joshua Sandoval; Grandchildren and lights of his life Teo De La Torre, Noah Hansel, Simone De La Torre, and Stella De La Torre; siblings Rosina Trujillo, Benina Martinez, Zebedeo Sandoval, Olivama Sandoval, Danny Sandoval-Tidwell (Yvonne), Pete Sandoval (Nancy), and Elaine Sandoval; Godchildren Victoria Martinez, Israel Sandoval, Jolen Montoya, Kyle Sandoval, David Martinez and Aaron Martinez. Sisters-in-law Grace Vigil Salazar (Henry) and Jenny Vigil; Brothers-in-law Daniel Vigil and Robert Vigil (Renee) and many other special relatives and friends.
Henry was born in Cordova, New Mexico and graduated from Santa Cruz High School. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After returning from service, he attended college at Northern New Mexico Community College in El Rito, NM where he earned his drafting certificate. His career included Los Alamos National Laboratory, Paisano Land Surveying, and surveillance supervising at the local casinos.
Henry was loyal to his faith and stood firmly in his beliefs. He carried his rosary and scapular everywhere he went. He expressed his love for his religion as an Hermano de la Morada de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno de San Antonio de Padua in Cordova, NM; and through his retablos and bultos. He was humble, loved to joke and shop, and loved to give to others. His love and pride in his family was never-ending.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Devargas Funeral Home and Crematory with a public viewing to start at 6:00 P.M. A private service with the Hermanos de La Morada de Cordova will be held with the family on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the Iglesia de San Antonio de Padua in Cordova, NM at 4:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at the Holy Family Parish Church in Chimayo, NM with burial to follow immediately after at the Morada Cemetery de Cordova.
Serving as Pallbearers are Joshua Sandoval, Eric De La Torre, Damon Hansel, Jolen Montoya, Israel Sandoval, Danny Sandoval, Jr., Manuel Sandoval, Jr., Jimmy Herrera, and Carlos Atencio.
Honorary Pallbearers are Victoria Martinez, Debra Sandoval, Aaron Martinez, Angelo Sandoval, Kyle Sandoval, Isaac Padilla, Joseph Vigil, Shanda Valerio, Shannon Sandoval, Amy Sandoval, David Martinez and all his other nieces and nephews.
The family of Henry Sandoval has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
