It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Henry I. Martinez, who peacefully departed this life on July 28, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on March 26, 1939,
Henry was a known for his warmth and laughter, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Henry was the cherished son of the late Teodoro and Fermiliana Martinez and was predeceased by his beloved son, Gary Martinez, step son Jimmy Ortiz Jr. as well as his brothers and sisters. Despite these profound losses, Henry's spirit remained vibrant and resilient, a testament to his unwavering strength and compassion.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rose Martinez, whose love and partnership were the cornerstones of his life. Together, they nurtured their beautiful family, including his sons Carlos Martinez (wife Pam), and Henry Martinez Jr. (partner Bram). Henry also embraced his role as a stepfather to Annabelle Almager, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. Henry was a proud and devoted grandfather to grandkids Jerame, Jesse, Jacob, Sandra , Elizabeth, Nicole, great grand daughter Marilyn, great grandson Ethan Jeremiah. Also, grand daughter Erika (husband Erik and great grandson Zion), as well as grandson Kory Almager (girlfriend Saydi Jimenez). His grandchildren were the light of his life, he took immense joy in their achievements and happiness. A graduate of Petaca High School,
Henry dedicated his career to the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where he worked as a Maintenance Worker. His diligence and dedication were matched only by his ability to bring joy to those around him, often sharing a joke to brighten the day. Henry's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was a fan of the outdoors and found solace and creativity in his music, a pursuit that brought him and those around him immense joy. His humorous nature and love for life were infectious, and he was known for always having a joke to share that could lift anyone's spirits.
A Public Viewing will take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 5:30 PM, with a Devotional Service at 6:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.
A service to honor and Celebrate Henry's Life will be held on August 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM at El Buen Pastor Assembly of God. The burial will follow at the Loma Vista Cemetery located off New Mexico State Road 389 (near State Road 68) in Alcalde.
The reception will proceed immediately after at El Buen Pastor Assembly of God. As we bid farewell to Henry, we hold onto the memories of his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering love for those he held dear. As his family so beautifully expressed, "We will miss our husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and grandfather and great grand father dearly." His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
