Hellon Ann Brewer Cox passed from this earthly life and entered into the presence of her Lord and Redeemer the afternoon of September 9, 2011.\r\nHellon was born July 12, 1925 in Clarksville, Tennessee to Harley Hartwell Brewer and Violetta Elizabeth (Fain) Brewer. She received her elementary education in Ohio and Virginia, then in 1937, with her parents, brother and sister, moved to New Mexico. From age 13, Hellon attended Santa Fe Indian School and graduated from SFIS at the age of sixteen, in 1942. She returned to SFIS to work for a time and then entered Southern Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA. She pursued her RN degree at SBH from 1943 to 1946. \r\nIn February 1946, she married Gerald (Jerry) Herman Cox of Denver, CO. To this union were born four children: Kathleen Elizabeth (Becky), Karl Franklin, John Frederick and Karen Marie (Teddy). She was a dedicated helpmeet to her husband, and for 24 years remained at home raising their children, then returned to nursing while living in York, NE. She and Jerry later made their home in Douglas, WY. It was here, after 40 years and 7 months of marriage, that Jerry passed away on September 26, 1986.\r\nHellon truly loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind and strength. She was truly a godly example of love, and she loved whole-heartedly. She treasured her family and her many friends. She loved nursing, particularly her years as an obstetrics nurse, but she said the highlight of her life was her years spent as wife and mother. She spoke with a heart full of joy and laughter when she reminisced and told of her life and its many adventures. Hellon will always be a treasure to the many who will continue to hold her close in their hearts.\r\nThe family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Helena Cox -Potter Memorial, P.O. Box 460, Bridgeport, NE 69336. These funds will later be disbursed to Teen Challenge of the Midlands and Pinehaven Christian Children’s Ranch. Additionally, memorials may be directed in the spirit of James 1:27, and as need is recognized, to provide for the needs of widows and fatherless children. \r\nHellon is survived by two sisters: Fay (Bobby) Mares of Albuquerque, NM, and Bebe (Ron) Berthiaume of Kingsland, GA; brother Roger Weah’kee of San Ilfefonso Pueblo, NM; sons Karl (Jacque) of Bridgeport, NE and John (Meleny) of Cheyenne, WY; daughter Teddy (Robert) Miller of Bridgeport, NE; 13 grandchildren, their spouses and loved ones, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; her dear friend David Estrada of Bridgeport, NE, and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
