Harold I. “Jaro” Romero Jr., 52, born on June 5, 1966, a resident of Velarde, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold I. Romero Sr.; son Harold I. Romero III; brother, Orlando S. Romero (Buddy); mother of his children, Betty; grandparents, Filadelfio and Filomena Romero, and Joe F. and Magdalena Montoya. Everyone will remember him for loving his grandchildren and spending time with them by always cruising the bottom roads of Velarde in his White Dodge with his music full blast. In his younger years he played his guitar and accordion for the entire family. He loved and cared for his mother dearly. He enjoyed returning home to his loving mother every day. Harold is survived by his daughter, Ashley Romero his pride and joy known as Daddy’s Girl and her companion who he loved as a son Alexander Trujillo; step-children, Carlos and Ashley Trujillo; mother, Ymelda Romero, companion Bernadette Casias, together with his mom they were the loves of his life; grandchildren, Kaycelyn Romero, Aliyah Martinez, Alexander (AJ) and Alyssa Trujillo, Jamie and Sophia; sisters, Germaine Romero and husband Bernie, Melissa Gallegos and husband Carlos Sr, Patricia Cardoza and husband Manuel; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Velarde with a burial to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Velarde. Serving the family as pallbearers are Bernie Romero, Tim Martinez, Danny Velarde, Leon Garcia, Vince Baldonado, Jeff Lyons, Randy Vigil and Carlos Gallegos Jr.; honorary pallbearers too many to mention will be his friends and family; and his family at Jemez Co-op including Cuba.
