Guzman "Gus" Jaramillo

GUZMAN “GUS” JARAMILLO, 67, a resident of El Rito, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Guzman Jaramillo, Sr.; brother, Richard Jaramillo; parents-in-law, Daniel and Margarita Martinez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gabino Martinez, Mary Martinez, Teofolia Salazar and Frank Ortiz; nephews and niece, Dion Jaramillo, Dwight Salazar and Sharon Ortiz; God-son, Eugene Alire. Gus was retired from Northern New Mexico College. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play basketball and also watching any sport, especially the Denver Broncos. He was a member of the Hermano de La Fraternidad Piadosa de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno Morada de El Rito for 37 years. Mr. Jaramillo is survived by his wife, Porfiria Jaramillo; daughters, Donna Negreros (Pablo), Daniella Gallegos (Richard) and Julie Jaramillo (Rick); grandchildren, Louis Torrez (Crystal), Daniel Torrez (Samantha), Jason Gallegos (Jenay) and Brittany Gallegos, Antonio Peña, Richard Garcia and Ericka Garcia; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Ariana Torrez and Ajaya, Jerikah and Jayden Gallegos; mother, Julia Jaramillo; brothers and sisters, Bernice Sena (Nick), Carmen Campos (Eddie) and Antonio Jaramillo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Diane Jaramillo, Mary Martinez, Lydia Alvarez (Julio), Rosina Ortiz, Donald Martinez (Bethany); God-children, Bernie Trujillo, Reyes Gallegos Jr., Thomas Martinez, Carmen Jaramillo, Nancy Ortiz, Mauri Rael, Cruz Jaramillo and Bernadette Medranda and other numerous relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. also at the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church in El Rito. Burial to follow at the El Rito Morada Cemetery with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers, Louis and Daniel Torrez, Jason and Brittany Gallegos and Antonio Peña and Richard Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be; Hermanos de la Fraternidad Piadosa de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno. The family of Guzman “Gus” Jaramillo has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
