Gregorita Aguilar

Gregorita Altagracia B. Aguilar (Grace), 90, resident of Rutheron, NM passed from this life into the waiting arms of the Lord on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.  She was born in Las Nutrias, NM, on January 18th, 1932, the 2nd oldest of twelve siblings.  Gregorita was preceded in death by her parents, Elena and Manuel Baca, beloved husband of 66 years Cruz Aguilar, brothers Onofre, George and Ruben Baca. Sister Sally Yates. Sons David, Daniel, Freddy and Martin Aguilar. Daughter Jane Aguilar Snelling (Michael). Granddaughter Estrella Martinez.

Gregorita is survived by her best friend and angel on earth Laurita Martinez, daughters, Clara Blanco (Erasmo), Elaine Soberanez (Baltazar), Rose Murch (Will), Mela Martinez (Johnny) and MaryAnn Edwards (Anthony), grandsons they helped raise, Jeffrey Culin and Joshua Aguilar, adopted grandson Adam Sanchez, 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, sisters Annie Mercure, Rose Bobian, Mary Gutierrez, Nancy Santos, Eileen Ayala, Ruth Aguero, and Lisa Montiel.     Half Sister Priscilla Lucero.  Her godchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gregorita was well known and loved in her community.  In her younger years she loved being part of the crusillos.  She was a faithful Catholic devoted to her Rosary and prayers.  She enjoyed spending time at bingos and casinos.  She enjoyed singing her favorite songs like Una Día la Vez, DeColores and Las Mananitas.  She loved spending time with her family and wished we could live by her.  She was one of the founding members of the La Clinica.  She was part of the Tierra Amarilla Land Grant movement and one of the early members of Tierra Wools.

A special thank you from the family for the care of our mother in the last years to Baudelia Mercure, Charity Moya, Joshua Aguilar and our sister MaryAnn and her family for these last few years.  Thank you to everyone for their calls, texts, posts and visits, during this difficult time and for all their support: prayer, food and friendship.  God Bless You.

Pallbearers are Jeffrey Culin, Joshua Aguilar, Torrey Edwards, David Soberanez, Danielle Martinez, Adam Sanchez.  Honorary Pallbearer’s are Tony Edwards, Danny Aguilar, Tomas Aguilar, Freddy Aguilar, Thomas Hayes, Joe Hayes, and Cory Soberanez.

Rosary will take place on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 6:00 pm at San Jose Catholic Church, Los Ojos, NM with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 23, 2022, at 11:00 am, at San Jose Catholic Church, Los Ojos, NM.   Burial to follow at La Colonia Cemetery at Tierra Amarilla (hill), NM.  Reception at the Parish Hall in Los Ojos, NM following burial.
