Gloria M. Martinez, 78, a resident of Chimayo, NM, gained her angel wings unexpectedly on the evening of June 11, 2026.

Gloria worked many jobs in her lifetime and took pride in everyone. The one thing she enjoyed the most was helping others. Gloria would give you the last dime she had or the shirt off her back if you needed it. She was a very strong willed, independent, and head strong woman, once she put her mind to something, she would make it happen. Some of the things she enjoyed most were going to dances, crafting and spending time camping with family and friends. She was an avid collector who enjoyed yard sales and thrift store shopping. She loved finding a good deal or something for her many collections. Gloria was so proud of the children she raised but she was even prouder when they brought her grandchildren and then great-grandchildren. It would make her so happy when she would spend time with them.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Tribinio and Clara Martinez; brother Marshall Martinez, sister Ercilia “Ercie” Martinez, and brother-in-law Dennis Chavez; close cousins Cisnel Lopez, Manuel and Ruben Martinez.

Gloria is survived by her children Yvonne Baros (Jake), Amie Valdez (Edmundo), and Tomas Lopez (Monica); grandchildren Robert Baros, Alex Valdez (Craig), CJ Valdez (Autumn), Tasha Lopez (Adan), and Tomas Lopez (Amberly); great-grandchildren Henley Almanza and Alianna Lopez; foster children Jasmine, Mary Alice and Faith Casaus; sisters Evie Chavez and Lollie Martinez, brother Dennis Martinez (Loretta); God-children Loretta Quintana, Tina Martinez, Debra Baros, Chasity Garcia and Kayla Martinez; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends too many to name them all.

Gloria had many titles, Mom, Grandparent, Great Grandparent, Foster Parent, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Wife, and Friend. Mom impacted many lives throughout her life. She left a great hole in many hearts the day she gained her angel wings, but we are glad to have been blessed with the time God lent her to us. Mom we love and miss you dearly but, we know you are no longer in pain or suffering. Mom you will never be forgotten.
