GLORIA M. MARTINEZ, 79, a resident of Upper San Pedro, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Tuesday morning, January 10, 2017 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. Gloria was born May 22, 1937 in Dixon to Mariano Romero and Refugio Romero-Montoya who precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond T. Martinez; daughters, Melinda and Phyelma Martinez; sister, Macedonia Blea; brothers, Herman Romero, Raymond Montoya, Mariano Romero, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Tony Sanchez, Pablo Garcia and Johnny Chavez and sister-in-law, Romelia Romero. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her children, Diana Ortiz (Dennis) of Chimayo, Janet Martinez Archuleta (Tony) of El Rito, Aaron Martinez (Mary) of Chili, Ronnie Martinez of Española, Jerry Martinez (Sheri), and Michole Paña (Joseph); special granddaughter who cared for her, Kayla Martinez all of Upper San Pedro; sisters, Margaret Sanchez of Guachupangue, Orfa Garcia and Arlene Chavez both of Española and Juanita Montoya (Patrick) of Velarde; special friends, Virginia Pelham and Joe and Cathy Garcia all of Upper San Pedro; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Dennis Ortiz, Larry Ortiz, Paul Fernandez, Miguel Timoteo Gurule, Antonio Martinez, Jose Garcia, Leonard Sanchez, and Sean Trujillo, honorary pallbearers are Patrick Montoya, Joseph Blea, Marvin Sanchez, Manny Chavez, Michael Montoya and Ray Casias.
