Geraldine Maestas Garcia
, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Geri was born on November 11th, 1949 in Embudo, NM. She was employed by Jemez Electric Coop for 37 years and retired in 2007. In 1969, she was honored to be the first Fiesta Queen in over 19 years when she served for the revival Oñate Fiesta. She was also a member of the Carmeltias at Holy Cross Church and loved her parish. She spent her retirement traveling to see her grandkids and joined a bowling league which she enjoyed every Friday. Geri had an infectious smile and loved to laugh. She was beautiful, independent, loving and truly enjoyed her Canada Dry Ginger Ale. She will be dearly missed by all. She spent the last 4 years caring for her step-dad (M & M). She was preceded in death by her parents Benito and Sarah Maestas, grandparents Antonio and Fedelina Archuleta, J. Ramon and Francisquita de Sales Salazar, brothers Benny James, Leon, Jerry and Ignacio Maestas. Geri is survived by her daughter Nina and husband Donald and her Grandchildren Jairus, Jaia and Jorinthian all of Scottsdale, Arizona.
A very special thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Vincent Christus Oncology Team who showed compassion and Love. Her beautiful angels on earth who inspired and prayed with her; Anita Vigil, Benito Herrera, Eva Maestas, Mary Agnes Gallegos, Rosina Garcia, Debbie Garcia, RoseMarie Valdez, Alice Gallegos and Connie Shupla.
Face masks are required for Public visitation that will begin on Wednesday, August 11th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Cruz de la Cañada with a rosary to follow at 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The following will take Geri to her final resting place; Jairus Gallegos, Jorinthian Gallegos, Benito Herrera, Mario Maestas (Godson), Darrin Herrera (Godson) and John Ramon Vigil. Honorary Pallbearers are Jose Manuel Martinez, Andres Gallegos and Stephen Salazar.
