Gerald Espinoza, age 57, a beloved resident of Phoenix, AZ and raised in New Mexico passed away tragically in a car accident on Saturday, September 13, 2025.
Gerald will be remembered for his playful banter, kind spirit, and infectious laugh. His greatest joy in life was his daughter and granddaughter, and he took pride in ensuring their happiness, always striving to give them more than they could ever imagine. Whenever Gerald spoke about his daughter and granddaughter, he would beam with joy and pride, clearly showing how much beauty they brought into his life. He had a special way of leaving everyone he met with a smile, often teasing both friends and strangers alike.
Gerald will be deeply missed, the world already feels different without the kindness and joy he spread everywhere he went. Everyone who encountered him would leave with a smile, he left lasting impressions on strangers, and for his family so many beautiful memories to look back on and smile, laugh and shake our heads. He will be deeply missed, he already is.
Gerald was the youngest and shared a deep bond with his Mother Mary Clara Espinoza, they are reunited in death along with many other loved ones; his brother Michael Espinoza, his grandparents, Armando and Celia Archuleta and Miguel and Eduarda Espinoza. Uncles, Aunts and numerous cousins.
Gerald leaves behind a family his daughter, Geralynn Espinoza, and her partner, TJ Brooks; granddaughter, Kensli Jeen Brooks; soon-to-arrive granddaughter, Clara Emeri Brooks; and Ramona Lujan, the mother of his daughter. He is also survived by his father, Miguel Espinoza Jr. (wife, Anna Ruth); sisters Virginia Espinoza (Lorena Avina) and Renee Jaramillo (Mike Jaramillo); as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Gerald was a proud uncle to nieces Antoinette Espinoza (Andy), Brandie Zamora (Cristian), Kristina Espinoza (Pat), and Ahmia Tamu Povi; and nephews David Jaramillo (Nicole) and Anthony Espinoza (Shanee). He also adored his seven great nieces and six great nephews.
A service to honor Gerald’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at DeVargas Funeral Home in Española, NM. Reception to follow immediately at the Cities of Gold.
