Gabriel Anthony Madrid was born on May 3rd, 1968. He was a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico and passed away after a long fight with illness on January 6th, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bonifacio Herrera and Evangelina Lopez (maternal), and Tony and Mela Madrid (paternal).
He is survived by his daughter Misty, son-in-law Morgan and three grandchildren, his parents, Joseph Sr and Viola Madrid, his siblings, Katrina (Kevin), Joseph Jr (Viviana), and Raymond, and many nephews, nieces and extended family.
Gabriel was a determined and intelligent man who lived life on his own terms. Prior to illness, he was a passionate and hard working Journeyman Electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 357 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He enjoyed working on many well known buildings such as the Bellagio Hotel, the Palms Hotels and Trump Tower to name a few. Though he followed his passions, family was always close at heart. He had a great sense of humor and optimism which reflected in him often using one word, “smile”. In 2016, he returned to New Mexico where he lived with and was cared for by family. His days were filled with God, love, friendship, art and pride for having lived a life such that he worked hard to play hard and above all, he loved deeply.
Family visitation will begin at 8:00 am in the Chapel of Peace at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola on Thursday, January 19, 2023. A Rosary will be held at San Juan Nepomuceno Church in El Rito at 9:30 am followed by Mass at 10:00 am. Burial will take place following Mass at the El Rito Las Placitas Cemetery.
