Filimon V. Martinez, 75, a resident of Chimayo, went to be with the lord, on Monday, March 2, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melecio and Amalia Martinez; brothers, Gonzalo Martinez, Arsenio Martinez, and Eliseo Martinez. Filimon was a Crane Operator for 39 years with Davis & Associates, he was the Mayordomo for 15 years for the Acequia de Los Espinoza’s. His past times were fishing, taking pictures, loved his horses, and he mainly loved spending time with his family, and he enjoyed spending time in “Arroyo de las Cañadas.” his childhood residence. Filimon also enjoyed visiting his daughters and sons. He is survived by his wife, Betty Martinez of Chimayo; sons, Lenny Martinez and wife Beverly of Chimayo, Israel Martinez Sr. and wife Melvina, daughters, Liz Padilla, Renee Martinez, Franchesca Martinez all of Chimayo, Jackie Martinez Berry and husband Gene of Albuquerque; grandson, Israel Martinez Jr., granddaughters, Leslie Martinez of Edge Wood, NM, Leanna Fresquez and husband Antonio of El Llano, Amy Padilla, Andrea Padilla, Sheanee and Monique Martinez all of Chimayo, great-grandsons, Dominic and Anjel, great-granddaughters, Brianna, Alanna; sisters, Lina Martinez Grey and husband Ron of Ohio, Evila Martinez and husband Tony of Chimayo, brothers, Melecio Martinez and wife Rosalie, Leland Martinez and wife Dora, all of Chimayo, and many other family and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Light House Church in Chimayo, with a burial to follow at the Light House Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Steven Martinez, Tony Martinez, Anthony Bustos, Vince Martinez, Michael Martinez, and David Martinez, honorary pallbearers named are Pete Padilla, Israel Martinez Sr., Israel Martinez Jr., Sheanee Martinez, Ryan Course, and Lenny Martinez.
