Obituary

Fidel Trujillo September 20, 1945 - May 26, 2026

Fidel was called home to be with his loving lord and savior on May 26, 2026 while surrounded by his family and close friends.

Fidel was preceded in death by his parents, Eduardo and Isabel Trujillo; his grandparents, Rosenda and Trinidad Lopez, and Rafaelita and Felix Trujillo; his siblings, Alice (Crescencio) Griego, Bertha (Lalo) Romero, Felix (Corine) Trujillo, Ezequiel (Connie) Trujillo, Nestor Trujillo (Nina), Andreita (Pat) Rodriguez, Luisa (Fred) Martinez, Gabinita (Gary) Jensen, Fidelito Trujillo, Cruz Trujillo, and Celia Trujillo; his sisters-in-law, Anita (Isidro) Ortiz, and Margaret Duran.

Fidel is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Trujillo; daughter, Brenda (Jacob) Ballard; his three beloved granddaughters, Katelyn, Lauren, and Kylee Ballard; sister, Dora (Edmundo) Lucero; brother, Leonard (Rose) Trujillo; sisters-in-law, Crestella Torres (Carlos), Vivian (Art) Lujan, Becky (Starr) Goodson; brothers-in-law, Andrew Apodaca, and Frank Apodaca (Theresa). Fidel is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and other extended family and close friends.

Fidel graduated from Taos High School and attended NMSU, majoring in Chemical Engineering. He was employed as a telephone technician for several years with Mountain Bell, AT&T, US West and the Los Alamos National Laboratory. After retirement, Fidel started a second career as a Pharmacy Technician at Fairview Pharmacy.

Outside of work, Fidel had a deep passion for serving Christ. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3314, serving as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. Fidel was also a devoted member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, serving as Finance Council Chairman. He was a beloved husband, doting father and grandfather. Fidel lived his life with humility, generosity, strength, and unwavering love for God and his family. He found joy in spending time with loved ones, always sharing stories and laughter over a good meal, and gifting others with his world renowned salsa. Fidel will be lovingly remembered for his fierce heart, comical jokes, deep faith, delicious salsa, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. Though he will be deeply missed, we find comfort knowing he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord he faithfully served throughout his life. He will be forever carried in our hearts.

A Rosary will be held at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
