In Loving Memory of Fidel Naranjo August 7, 1940 – May 24, 2025
With deep sorrow and love, we announce the passing of Fidel Naranjo, a husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished great-grandfather, and beloved great-great-grandfather. Fidel passed away peacefully at the age of 84, surrounded by his family.
Born on August 7, 1940, to Syria and Nicolas Naranjo. He lived a full and meaningful life defined by dedication, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. His legacy stretches across five generations, each touched by his wisdom, warmth, and guidance.
Fidel was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Sam, Leroy, and Nicolas Naranjo. Three grandsons, Nick, Marshall and Luke. Their memories, like his, will remain a lasting part of the family's story.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice Robinson-Naranjo, they raised their three daughters and one son, Comora, Alice, Michelle and spouse Michael, and Fidel and numerous grandchildren which all attended Los Alamos Public Schools. They have, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren — each a living testament to the values and love he shared throughout his life.
Professionally, Fidel contributed significantly to the community. He began his career in Los Alamos County Utilities, where he dedicated himself to public service. Later, he worked with Zia, a firm known for its commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. Through Zia, Fidel played a crucial role in implementing safety programs under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), ensuring the well-being of workers and the community.
Fidel was especially proud of all his grandchildren’s accomplishments. Notably, he supported Chase Ealey-Jackson in her shot-put career — Chase went on to become a world champion shot-put athlete, a milestone Fidel celebrated with great pride and joy.
Fidel had a deep passion for sports and dedicated many years to coaching youth through the YMCA, where he inspired countless young athletes on basketball and football teams. He also was an active boxer in his young years, enjoyed playing basketball himself and proudly served as a national-level referee, combining his love for the game with his commitment to fair play and mentorship. Fidel’s presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
