Felix - Age 69 - Española Griego, Jr.

FELIX GRIEGO, JR. 69, born in Coyote a resident of Española, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Griego, Sr. and Magdalena; brother, Antonio Griego; sisters, Carmen and Eliza Griego; infant brother, Ben Griego; brother, Benjamin Griego; nephews, Fidel Lopez and Danny F. Jaramillo. Felix delivered the New Mexican Newspaper in the Española area in his teenage years with the money he earned he bought his first bike. He spent his time informed by watching the news and listening to the radio. He was a very happy friendly person. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Phyllis Trujillo and husband Rubel of Rio Rancho, Dora Jaramillo, Amelia Lopez and husband Merced and Joe O. Griego all of Española, John H. Griego and wife Julia of Rio Chama, Jean Martinez and husband Sy of Española and Cecilia Velasquez and husband Uvaldo of Youngsville; Mary Maestas and husband Isaac, Sr. of Wyoming; niece, Lorenzita Lopez of Española; niece who took care of him in his final days, Geneva Jaramillo-Marquez of Española and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 6:45 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. also in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Richard Espinoza officiating these services. Burial to follow at the Women’s Auxiliary Cemetery in Española with the following serving as pallbearers: Ruben Trujillo, Melvin Jaramillo, Alan Martinez, Michael Martinez, Jon Lynn Griego and Damian Mendez. Honorary pallbearers named are, Laurel Rapaport-Jaramillo, Jose A. Castillo, Lawrence Lucero, Hack Lucero, Española Valley Nursing Home & Rehab Staff and Ambercare Hospice staff.
