Felimon S. Gallegos, a resident of Española, has begun his journey to his heavenly home to be reunited
with his wife of 72 years, Virginia V Gallegos on Monday May 30, 2022 at the age of 95.
Felimon was born in Tierra Azul on September 9, 1926 to Santiago and Anastacia Gallegos. He was
raised by his maternal grandparents, Bentura and Doloritas Manzanares.
Felimon, known by Phil to most was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish where he was
involved in many capacities. In his lifetime he had several jobs, but his favorite of them all, was a school
bus driver. Phil retired from Española Public Schools in 1988, but he continued driving for Garcia
Contractors and J.D Martinez for many years. Felimon was the second oldest of nine brothers, and one
sister all of whom preceded him in death.
Felimon is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, Grandchildren, Donald R and Debbie Gallegos, and
Freddie Maestas.
He is survived by daughter, Dolores Romero (Rudy) of Chimayo; sons, Philip and Donald Gallegos of
Española, adopted sister Angie Gallegos, Brother in law Luis Valdez, sister in laws Betty, Perscilla and
Barbara Gallegos, eleven grandchildren, Lewis and Ernest Gallegos, Ysabell, Lee (Crystal) Romero,
Jennifer (Bryan) Olivas, Santiago Sandoval, Jarried and Shawn Gallegos, his care giver and great
granddaughter Lynnda Romero, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nine God
children.
A wake service will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of
DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 6,
2022, at 12:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Burial will follow at the Sacred
Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Lee Romero, Shawn Gallegos and Jeremy Maestas, George Valdez, Richard Martinez
and Moises Morales.
Honorary pallbearers are Louie and Ernie Gallegos and Bernie Garcia.
