Feliberto "Phil" Sanchez

Feliberto (Phil) Sanchez, 94, A lifelong resident of Hernandez, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 9, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 13, 1928 to Nicholas and Adelides Garcia Sanchez.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Adelides Garcia Sanchez, brother Fidel, sister-in-law Gloria Sanchez, Cecilia Sanchez, sisters Margaret, Luella, and Connie, grandson Elmer Nicolas Sanchez Jr., plus many other in-laws and relatives.

Phil proudly served his Country in the United States Army in the 2^nd Infantry Division. Phil was a lifelong rancher as well as worked other trades. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. Throughout his 94 years, he was well respected and held in high regards by his community.

Phil is survived by his wife Tessie of 70 years, brother Alfred Sanchez, children Marcella Gordon (Michael), Lily Reese (Larry), David (Barbara), Elmer Sr. (Tomasita), Terry Herrera (Raymond), 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, Anita Maes who was like a daughter to him, and many nieces and nephews.

Public visitation will begin on Monday January 16, 2023 at 5:00 pm with a rosary to follow at 6:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday January 17, 2023 at 12:00 pm at San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Burial will take place on Wednesday January 18, 2023 at 10:30 am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearer's are Phillip Reese, Jake Herrera, Dylan Chapin, Miguel Gutierrez, Adam Segovia and Issiah Volaile-Sanchez.
