Evangeline Martinez, of Santa Cruz, New Mexico, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on October 1, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of ninety-one.
Those that have preceded her in death are her parents, Jose Ignacio & Genevieve Martinez, half-siblings Jose Martinez, Celine Martinez-Melendez, Connie Martinez-Quintana, and Arturo Martinez, siblings, Martha, Horace, Gerald, and Beatrice Piñeda, her husband Cristobal Martinez, son’s, Ralph Bernard, and Carl Martinez, stepson Larry Gerber, stepdaughter, Christina Colson, and step-grandson’s Noah Hudson and Jeremy Gerber.
Evangeline is survived by her loving children, Bridget & husband Bruce Blowers, sons Walter, Jonathan, Christopher, and Felicia Martinez. She is also survived by many grandchildren; Sarah Hudson, Christopher Colson, Jennifer Moore, Jodie and husband Danny Essary, Jonathan Jr., and wife Kelsey Martinez, Donovan Molina, Jessie Serrano, Esperanza and Andres Martinez, great grandchildren, Noah and Sky Hudson, Jeremy Gerber Jr., Ian and Isaiah Essary, Archer Moore, and Gracie, Arianna and Xavia Martinez. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Evangeline was very active in her catholic faith as a member of the Carmelita’s at Holy Cross de la Cañada Church; she was also a member of the Society of the Sacred Heart at Sacred Heart Church. She also, faithfully, visited the Holy Eucharist at Sacred Heart Church at 3:00 a.m. every Thursday for many years.
Her earlier years, Evangeline was a cosmetology instructor at El Rito College. She was a seamstress for Levi Strauss, and she loved caring for her family as a devoted homemaker.
A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 908 W Calle Rosario, Española, New Mexico, on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. where she will be reunited with her loving husband Cristobal Martinez, a WWII Navy Veteran.
