Evangeline Baca, affectionately known as "Vangie," age 75, was born on October 16, 1950, and was a lifelong resident of Chimayó, New Mexico. Vangie passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving sister Teresita and her cousins Terrie, Manuel, Shelley, and Amanda.
Vangie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Elijio Baca and Lorencita Jaramillo Baca; her brothers, Cecilio and Ray Baca; and her close cousin Cindy Baca, who was like a sister to her.
Vangie is survived by her sister, Teresita Baca, and numerous loving cousins, including Terrie, Manuel, Shelley, and Amanda, who frequently spent time with her and assisted with daily activities such as shopping, appointments, and errands. Vangie was truly a genuine and loving soul who was a blessing to all who knew her.
Vangie will be fondly remembered as a kind, caring, and deeply devoted family member and friend. A faithful Catholic, she cherished time spent with her family. She especially enjoyed quiet moments watching drama and Hallmark movies with her sister Teresita. Vangie also loved attending the Santa Fe Fiestas and the Santa Fe Indian Market with her dear friend Martha from Albuquerque, followed by sharing meals at local restaurants.
Her favorite pastime was visiting with friends and enjoying meals at her favorite restaurant, El Rancho de Chimayó, where she delighted in traditional Spanish foods. Vangie was known for her infectious laughter, warm sense of humor, and her strong sense of devotion to family. She selflessly helped care for her parents and brothers and remained a constant source of support and love to her sister Teresita.
