Eugenio C. Age - 84 - El Llano Rodriguez

EUGENIO C. RODRIGUEZ, 84, a resident of Española peacefully left this earth to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 31, 2012. He was born in Truchas on October 11, 1927 and proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War: it was a time that made Veteran’s Day more important than his birthday. He was employed at the uranium/zinc mines in Leadville, CO and Grants, NM. He was also employed with the ZIA Co. and JCI in Los Alamos. He was a strong, loving, fearless and hard-working man that strived to keep his family well taken care of; an intelligent man who loved to tell stories of his life experiences. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Fidelia D. Rodriguez; son, Jerry E. Rodriguez; parents, Frank and Debari Rodriguez; brothers, Albert, Porfirio, and Samuel Rodriguez; sister, Ermelinda Martinez; in-laws, Benito and Juanita Duran of Española. Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his daughters; Ruby Medina and husband Joseph Dale of Fairview; Rebecca Duran and Chris Rodriguez of Fairview; his son Henry Rodriguez and wife Frances of Fairview, who gave him great tender care and love during this stage in his life. He was very proud of his grandchildren: Melissa Dunlap and husband Larry of Mississippi, Jennifer Espinoza and husband James of Chimayo, Adrian Duran and Antonia Trujillo of Alcalde, Deanna Mangum of Las Vegas, NV, Desirae J. Medina and Ty Lujan of Alcalde, Deondra Rodriguez and David Maes of Fairview, Gina Williams and husband Derell of Albuquerque, Raquel Rodriguez of Dallas, TX, Alfred Duran of Fairview, Joseph I. and Matthew Medina of Fairview, Rico Rodriguez of Fairview; 11 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Freddie Duran of Espanola; sisters, Alice Wheeler and husband Tony of Española, Andrietta Romero of Española, Ida Trujillo and husband Ernest of Fairview; sisters-in-law, Eloisa Rodriguez of Española and other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Vista Care Hospice and niece Florence who brightened his last days every time she walked into the room. He will continue to be loved and dearly missed. Public visitation will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at El Buen Pastor Church in Ranchitos with a devotional to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at El Buen Pastor Church in Ranchitos. Burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. The family of Eugenio C. Rodriguez has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
