Esther Romero

ESTHER ROMERO , age 78, a resident of Espanola, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 31, 2021.  Esther was a strong, brave, loving and kind person who dedicated her life to her family.  Esther was born in Dixon and enjoyed reminiscing of simpler times growing up in Dixon. Esther had a lengthy career with the Espanola Public Schools and retired after 26 years.  After retirement, Esther loved traveling and experiencing new places with her daughters and grandchildren.  Esther's favorite travel spots were by the ocean where she enjoyed sailboat excursions and trying new seafood cuisine. Esther is survived by her husband of 56 years, Nelson; daughters, Janice Shisler (John), Carol Romero-Clark (Bob), and Melody Peters (Mark); granddaughters, Meagan, Madison and Mackenzie; grandson, Zachery; brother, Alfonso (Mary); sister, Dila; special sisters-in-law, Mary Garcia and Patsy Roybal; and numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.  Esther was preceded in death by her father, Alberto; mother, Amanda; brothers, Lee, Roger, Arturo, Leroy and sister Edna. Celebration of life and final rest at the Dixon Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery will be announced at a future date. The family of Esther Romero has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
