Esquipula Nepomuceno (Skip) Age-74 Nambe Valdez

Esquipula Nepomuceno (Skip) Valdez, 74, a lifelong resident of Nambe, NM passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. He was born on September 27, 1936 to Felipe and Ursusina Maestas Valdez in Santo Niño who preceded him in death. Mr. Valdez was also preceded in death by his brothers: Pablo, Ramon and Felipe A. Valdez; in-laws, George and Pablita Hurtado; brother-in-law, Ray Hurtado; and other relatives. Esquipula N. (Skip) Valdez is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maria C. (Grace) Valdez; sons: Manuel G. Valdez and wife Elsie of Lyden, George Valdez, Leroy Valdez, Chris Valdez and wife Micca, John Valdez and wife Monica, Roman Valdez and wife Isabelle, Phillip Valdez and wife Francine, all of Nambe; daughters: JoAnn Lopez and husband Leopoldo of San Juan, Maria Valdez and fiancée Daniel Cardiel of Nambe; granddaughter raised like a daughter, Ila Valdez of Nambe; sisters-in-law: Molly and Augustina Valdez of Santa Fe, Bernie Valdez of El Llano, Susie Saiz and Bernadette Ortiz of Santa Fe, Irma Gonzales and husband Renee of Pojoaque, Margaret Quintana and husband Dennis of Sombrillo; eighteen grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other loving relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe with burial to follow at Nambe Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers for Mr. Esquipula N. (Skip) Valdez will be his sons; honorary pallbearers will be his daughters, Manny Saiz and all his grandchildren. The family of Esquipula N.
