Elmer N. Sanchez II, 36, of Hernandez, New Mexico, was tragically taken from us and passed away October 17, 2022.
Elmer was born on May 23, 1986, in Espanola, New Mexico. He graduated from Espanola Valley high School in 2004, and started his 17-year career with Los Alamos National Laboratory. He began his career in Radiation Protection in 2010, where he was an important contributor, mentor and leader as an RCT, supporting the Laboratory’s mission.
In 2009, Elmer welcomed his first son, Noah Feliberto into the world and five years later welcomed a second son, Jonah Maize. In 2019, Elmer met his fiancée Delilah Emanuel, and welcomed, Dakota Rain & Kayce Koohahyah.
Elmer’s life consisted of his family, friends and animals. His fiancée and children were and will always be his pride and joy, and you never saw him without one of his loves. Elmer’s passion was working the ranch and looking after his animals, especially his horses and cattle. He was a true cowboy through and through, and a one-of-a-kind man that anyone was blessed to know.
Elmer was proceeded in death by members of the Sanchez, Garcia and Romero families. He is survived by his fiancé Delilah Emanuel, the love of his life; his beautiful children Noah, Jonah, Dakota and Kayce Sanchez; his father Elmer N. Sanchez Sr.; his mother Yvette Romero & stepdad Anthony Atencio; his sister Nyana Gutierrez & brother-in-law/best friend Miguel Gutierrez and godson Mattis Gutierrez; sisters Tessa Sanchez & GiAnna Maestas and brother Isaiah Sanchez; paternal grandparents Phil & Tessie Sanchez; maternal grandparents Betty Garcia and Phil Romero; paternal aunts Marcella Gordon (Michael), Lily Reese (Larry), Terry Herrera(Raymond) and their families; maternal aunties Kim Romero, Camille Esquibel (Joel), Renee Martinez (Rob) and their families. As well as, numerous other relatives who loved Elmer.
Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Esquibel, Emilio Martinez, Tino Baca, Tony Gutierrez, Richard Madrid and Kevin Beluscak. Honorary pallbearers are Noah, Jonah, Dakota, Kayce, Mattis and Miguel.
The Rosary will be held at the DeVargas Funeral Home on October 27, 2022, at 7:00pm, with public visitation beginning at 5:30pm. The Funeral mass will take place at the Santa Cruz De La Canada Church on October 28, 2022, at 10:30am, followed by a burial at the San Jose Cemetery in Hernandez, NM.
