Elmer - Age 64 - Ranchitos - Garcia

ELMER D. GARCIA, 64, a resident of Ranchitos, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amada and Vicente Garcia; brother, Salomon Garcia; aunt, Dora Trujillo and nephew he helped raise, John Martinez. He worked for LANL for over 38 years and later retired in 2007. He served in the National Guard for over 22 years and was also part of Desert Storm Family Support Group. He was a 1966 class reunion committee member and was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping with the family. Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife, Yolanda M. Garcia of Ranchitos; children, Vincent E. Garcia of Santo Niño, Daniel J. Garcia and wife Michelle R. all of Santo Niño, Yolanda E. Garcia of Ranchitos and Elmer S. Garcia of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Dylan D. Garcia of Santo Niño and Evan W. Garcia; sisters and brothers, Mary Bustos and husband Larquin of San Pedro, Angie M. Garcia of San Pedro, David L. Garcia of Ranchitos, Pauline M. Duncan and husband Del of San Pedro, Theresa M. Garcia and husband Michael of Albuquerque, Gloria B. Archuleta and husband Dan of Santa Cruz, and Mary Evelyn Martinez and husband Andy of Guachupange; sister-in-law, Pamela M. Valdez and husband Peter of Santo Niño; God-daughter, Briana Atencio of Ranchitos and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. With the following serving as pallbearers: Rosendo Atencio, Aaron Archuleta, Eric Archuleta, Robert Garcia, Nicky Martinez and Angel Valdez. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Leonard Bustos, Charles Garcia, Amanda Valdez, Christopher Trujillo and Luke Garcia. The family of Elmer D.
