Elizario Martinez

Elizario D Martinez, affectionately known as Lee, age 84, of Chimayo, NM, peacefully passed away at his home on April 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Cirilio and Josephina Martinez, and siblings: Amador Martinez (wife Antonetta), Ross Martinez, Johnny Martinez, Sammy Martinez, Lorriane Martinez, and brother-in-law Samuel Trujillo.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Martinez, and cherished daughters: Melissa Avila (husband Raul), Bianca Herrera (husband Isaac), and Patty Gallegos (husband Samuel). Lee also leaves behind five adored grandchildren: Raul Adam Avila (wife Melody), Christina Unzueta (husband Michael), Jacob Gallegos, Madeline Baca (husband Tom), and Jessica Herrera (husband Anthony), as well as four beloved great-grandchildren: Alani Rae Unzueta, Noah Unzueta, Athena Avila, and Eva Baca. He is also survived by his sister, Clora Trujillo.

Known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family, Lee excelled in various fields, including construction, welding, landscaping, and as a bus contractor. He found joy in working on his home and assisting his daughters in any way he could. An outdoors enthusiast, Lee found solace and happiness in fishing.

While Lee's presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends, his loved ones take solace in knowing that he is no longer in pain. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Amber Care for their compassionate care during Lee's final days, as well as to the staff at the Dialysis Centers in Espanola and Santa Fe, and to DeVargas for their meticulous attention to detail and support during this difficult time.
