Eliza Thompson

Eliza “Dolly” Thompson age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on March 29, 2023.  Eliza was born on August 6, 1932, at her home in the Santa Cruz de la Canada, New Mexico.  Her parents were Abran Bustos Sr. and Rafaela Bustos.  She married her first husband Dennis G. Gallegos from El Guique, the father of her children. After Dennis’s death she remarried Robert J. Thompson who helped to raise her children as if they were his own. 

Eliza loved her home and yard, gardening and raising animals. Her family meant the world to her.  She was blessed with many wonderful friends.  Eliza was preceded in death by her parents Abran and Rafaela Bustos, her first husband Dennis G. Gallegos, Robert J. Thompson her second husband, siblings Anita Arkelian, Virginia Arkelian, Abran Bustos Jr., Frank Bustos, Antonio Bustos and grandchildren Antonio Herrera and Prescott Carmody. 

Eliza leaves behind her five beloved children and their partners: Virginia Martinez – Nelson Martinez, Teresa Gallegos – Lawrence Herrera, Dennis G. Gallegos – Tammy Gallegos, Lawrence Gallegos – Roseann Gallegos and Bernadette Gallegos – Eric Martinez. 

Grandchildren: Joaquin Martinez – Patricia Martinez, Dawn Carmody – James Carmody, Terrance Gallegos – Alicia Gallegos, , Angelica Herrera – Gilbert Romero, Nadine Mestas – Chris Mestas. 

Great grandchildren: Vincent Martinez, Aurelio Martinez, Luna Martinez, Kyla Medina, Joseph Medina, Estrella Brito, Antonio Herrera, Ashley Case – Justin Case, Megan Carmody, Miquela Gallegos, Travis Gallegos, Alexandria Gallegos, Matthew Mestas, Maverick Mestas, Isaiah Mestas and Luke Mestas. 

Nieces and Nephews: her beloved Christine Bustos, Martha Perraglio, Phillip Bustos – Joan Bustos, Don Bustos, Abran Bustos, David Bustos, Robert Bustos, Catherine Williams – Dean Williams, Peter Arkelian, Brian Arkelianand Paulette Dupree- Michael Dupree. 

Godchildren: Don Bustos, Leroy Sanchez, Andres Gallegos, Nicole Archuleta and Terrance Gallegos.

A rosary will take place on April 12, 2023 at 10:30 am in the Iglesia de Santa Cruz de La Canada, Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with meal to follow. Burial will take place On April 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Pallbearer’s:  Eliza’s grandson’s will act as pallbearers.
