Eliza M. Maestas

Eliza M. Maestas, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024.  She was born on July 2, 1922, to Salvador and Veneranda Valdez.

Eliza was a wonderful person who loved to cook and share her food with anyone who visited.  She always loved to dance, especially the polka.  She kept records of the family and was considered the family genealogist.   She was very organized.  Eliza adored her grandchildren and was always happy to see them.  

Eliza was preceded in death by her first husband Ricardo Garcia, second husband Abenicio Maestas; parents; sons Manuel Salvador Garcia, Richard and Cresencio Garcia; grandchildren Frankie Harris, Marvin Garcia and Joelle Loree Harris; sisters Cornelia Valdez, Mary Tapia and Elvira Martsh Martinez; brothers David, Jose, Romolo, Celestino, Fred and Candido Valdez.

Eliza is survived by her brother Samuel Valdez; daughter Maybel Garcia Harris and husband Kenneth; son Leroy Garcia and wife Flora; daughters-in-law Frances Garcia and Louise Garcia; many grandchildren Jennifer, Eileen and Kimberly Garcia, Michael, Kenneth and Marcus Garcia, David, Dwain, Joey and Rodney Harris; great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Public Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 5:30 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm.  On Friday, May 31, 2024, a Memorial Service will take place at 8:00 am at DeVargas Funeral Home, with Burial to follow at 10:30 am at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
