The gates of Heaven opened to ELISEO RONALD SALAZAR, 17, a resident of Alcalde, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, May 30, 2011. Eliseo was preceded in death by his father; Willie Salazar; uncles, Raul and Joaquin Salazar; maternal great-grandfather, Alfredo Montoya Sr.; great-grandparents, Eufelia and Arsenio Fernandez; paternal great-grandparents, Willie and Lucy Salazar; maternal great aunts, Josie Krauss and Patsy LaBadie; paternal great uncle, Bruce Romero; cousins, A.J. Arsenio Herrera, Mario Valerio and Margarita Valdez. He was a very loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Eliseo was very shy, loving, affectionate, respectful and responsible young man. Even though he was shy he had a smirky smile that charmed everyone who knew him very well. Eliseo was taken under the wing of his Grandpa Cheo who taught him the values of life to be a respectful young man. As a young boy he was an avid fisherman, there was not a day that he, his family and friends would want to go fishing every chance they got. Then he got introduced to dirt bikes, which he truly enjoyed as he went on his rides he geared up and stopped for his riding partner Estevan DeVargas and neighborhood friends. He loved to do wheelies and donuts. In between fishing and riding his dirt bike he enjoyed skateboarding, playing Chess, video games, tending to his dogs “Stomper” and “Precious”. His life ended short but the great memories of him will last a lifetime within our hearts. Eliseo is survived by his loving mother, Maria Montoya; sister, Esperanza “Espi” Salazar; brother, Joaquin Salazar; girlfriend, Christine Jaillet; maternal grandparents, Eliseo and Irene Montoya; paternal grandparents, Ronnie Salazar and MaryLou, Annabel and Mike Lopez; maternal great-grandmother Jerry Montoya, paternal great-grandparents, Avaristo and Dora Romero; uncles Abe Montoya and Dorothy and Anthony Montoya and Renee; aunt, Helena Salazar and husband Bobby; God-mother/Aunt, Valerie Montoya; God-father, Elias Sisneros; cousins, Isaiah Salazar, Toni Jay Dixon, Adam Montoya, Katelynn Tafoya, Christopher and Miranda Salazar; maternal great aunts and uncles, Alfredo and Mae Montoya, Gerald and Judy Montoya, Lorraine and Pedro Valdez, Clara and Ernie Flores, Tony Valerio, Maria and Chris Armijo Joseph Gutierrez, Brenda Valdez and Bernadette Jaramillo; paternal aunts and uncles, David Salazar and Annie, Irene and Ebodio Payer, Connie and Eluid Martinez, Alice and Frank Serrano, Rose Fetchko, Joe and Maria Romero, Nary Maestas, Adrina and Rick Cordova, Betty and Doug Walker, Roy Romero, Cindy Romero and many other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at Alcalde Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Mario Montoya, Gerald Montoya, Lucas Montoya, Markos Valdez, Estevan DeVargas, Ramiro Ponce de Leon, Rudy Aragonez and Amanda Montoya. Honorary pallbearers are as follows; Mr. Richard Lucero, Jorge Cabos-Lucero, Morgan Mascarenas, Jeanelle Martinez, Jason Cordova, Ruben and Adam Romero, Chris Cortez, Emilio Archuleta, Amanda Montoya, Christopher Salazar, Lucas Archuleta, Adam Montoya and Isaiah Salazar. The family of Eliseo Ronald Salazar has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
