It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Marvin “Toy” Montoya, 59, a resident of La Puebla, NM, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 10, 2024. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grand father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.

Marvin “Toy” was proceeded in death by his father Eddie Montoya, and mother Sylvia Maestas; paternal grandparents Luis R. and Candie Montoya; maternal grandparents Frank and Susie Maestas; Aunt Lena Lucero, Uncle Luis Montoya Jr, brother Eli Velarde, cousin Lynette Lucero, father-in-law Lee Arthur Gonzales, sister-in-law Rosemary Gonzales, brothers-in-law Felix Griego and Lino Tapia; Nieces Bernadette Gonzales, Sherrie Gonzales, and nephew Leonard Griego Jr.

Marvin is survived by the love of his life, Brendalee Montoya. Daughters; Candice Montoya (Richard Borrego) Shaila Rivera, and Nadine Gonzales (B.J. Medina); Sons Derek Lane and Enrique Gonzales (Jaylynn Padilla); Grandchildren; Eddielee, Ethan, and Aiden Montoya, Alana and Kendra Sanchez, Brandon Gonzales, Kabryna (James Martinez), Miranda, Marissa and Audreena Medina, Roswitha Martinez, Derek Jr. Varela; Great grandkids Alaiyah Martinez, Baby Girl Montoya, Baby Boy Drake and Baby Varela; Sister Clarissa Romero (Ted Barela); Nieces Taleya Romero and Serenity Barela; Nephew Teddy Barela (Savannah Martinez); Aunts Kathy Montoya Trujillo (Richard Trujillo), Dessie Montoya Soto, and Rosella Montoya; Uncle Rudy C. Maestas (Tina); Mother in-law Olympia Gonzales; Brothers-in-law Leonard Griego, Marvin Gonzales (Bernadette Gonzales); and sister-in-law Debbie Pacheco, and many other cousins and loved ones.

Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Some of his hobbies consisted of fishing, going for wood, and spending time outdoors. One of his main passions was woodworking, creating custom and unique pieces for his loved ones. Marvin attended college at NMCC in El Rito, NM where he received a certificate in meat processing. Good or bad Marvin lived life on his terms. He will be greatly missed. We love you, Marvin “Toy”.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM, with burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in El Llano, NM.
