Dulcinea Marquez-Trujillo

d. December 23, 2021

Dulcinea known to most as Candy passed away peacefully on December 23, 2021, at the age of 77. She will be truly and dearly missed by all who knew her and had the privilege of meeting this wonderful woman. She was always willing to help anyone anytime she could. Candy worked as a custodian for over 20 years for the public schools and after her retirements she worked for a local Home Health Care Agency in Espanola where she loved all her clients and considered them family and at any point in time you could find Candy on the phone with one friend or another as she loved all of them and truly enjoyed being on the phone with each of them.

She also truly loved and enjoyed spending time with all of her grandkids, because that smile never left her face when anyone of her grandkids were around. Being a mother and grandmother was one of her greatest joys and she still also made sure that her own grown children were taken care of on a daily basis. She was an active member of the Catholic Church in Chimayo and a Celedora of the Holy Family as well.

She is preceded in death by her parents Salomon and Carmelita Velasquez, brother Arnold Velasquez, 1st husband and father of her sons Casiano Marquez, and her late husband Richard Trujillo.

She is survived by her sons Kenneth and Tom (T.J) Marquez (Leslie), along with stepson Fernando Trujillo. Grandkids Kaylie, Elijah, Susie, Nana, Kaitlyn, Bell and Chris. She is also survived by her siblings Bernie Velasquez (Esther), Tom Velasquez, and Paul Velasquez (Vivian) along with many more family and friends.

The viewing will be held on January 18th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and Rosary to start at 7:00pm at DeVargas Funeral Home of Espanola. Mass will be held on January 19th at 10:00am at Holy Family in Chimayo and burial to follow at Nuestra Señora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo.
