Drew Maestas

Our hearts are broken to announce the passing of Drew Wayne Arturo Maestas, age 27. Drew left us on June 16th, 2025. Drew was so very much loved and brought encouragement and laughter to his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a hand or a listening ear and loved to make people laugh. Drew enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, training physically, reading, teaching and treasure hunting. Drew will be remembered for his generous spirit and his gigantic laugh. Drew will be deeply missed by his parents, Shawna Maestas-Mckenzie (Mother), Joshua McKenzie (Stepfather), Lucas Borrego (Father), Dominic Martinez (Brother), Sabrina and Kristiana Borrego (Sisters), John and Cheryl Voltin (Grandparents), Patricia Borrego (Grandmother), Elisabeth Lemons (Great Grandmother) and many uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members and special friends. Drew is preceded in death by Wayne Lemons (Great-grandfather), Arturo and Lucy Ortega (Great-grandparents), Nacho Maestas (Grandfather), Andres Borrego (Grandfather) and beloved uncles, an aunt, cousins and his best friend.

We have entrusted Drew to Devargas Funeral Home in Espanola, to whom we owe our sincere gratitude. Services for Drew will be held on July 2nd, 2025 at Santa Cruz de la Canada in Espanola – Rosary at 10:00am and Funeral Mass at 11:00am, Reception immediately following the Mass at the Old La Cocina restaurant at 310 Old Los Alamos Highway, Espanola, NM- please join us. The family asks if you have any special memories of Drew, a funny story or anything positive Drew taught you, please share these with his mom or dad, who will include a few of these memories in Drew’s eulogy.
